David G. Kent Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by New Hampshire Teachers of Mathematics
The New Hampshire Teachers of Mathematics is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to one graduating high school senior. This award honors the memory of David G. Kent, who served for many years on the NHTM executive board and organized the New Hampshire High School Mathematics Contest.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be graduating from a New Hampshire high school or be a resident of New Hampshire.
- Applicant must have been accepted to a fully accredited college or university.
- Applicant must intend to enroll in a teacher certification program for any of the following: middle school or secondary mathematics education; elementary education; or a mathematics program with the goal of becoming a mathematics teacher.
Selection Factors
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- academic record and achievement
- demonstrated financial need
- participation in extracurricular activities
- service and involvement in school and community
How to Apply
1. Fill out and submit the scholarship application form.
2. Provide a copy of your school transcript (emailed or mailed). The transcript must show class rank, GPA, and course-level coding.
3. Send a copy of SAT or ACT scores (emailed or mailed).
4. Submit two letters of recommendation (emailed or mailed). One recommendation must come from a mathematics or computer science teacher and the author should specifically address the applicant’s suitability for this scholarship.
5. Include a copy of your SAR (Student Aid Report) indicating your EFC (Expected Family Contribution) (emailed or mailed).
All materials may be submitted either by email or by postal mail as indicated on the application form.
