South Dakota Bankers Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by South Dakota Bankers Foundation
Intro
The South Dakota Bankers Foundation awards scholarships through its member banks to support its mission of developing banking professionals in South Dakota and strengthening the state’s banking workforce.
Application deadline
Scholarship request forms must be submitted by June 30, 2026.
Who may be nominated
Member banks should nominate students who meet all of the following:
- Enrolled at a South Dakota college as a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student, or enrolled in the second year of a South Dakota technical college program.
- Intend to pursue a career in banking or financial services (majors such as finance, business, information technology, human resources, marketing, etc., are acceptable when the student’s career goal is in the banking industry).
How the award process works
- Each bank selects the student(s) it wishes to support and provides the recipient’s name and school to the Foundation. If a bank needs assistance locating an eligible student, contact the SDBA at info@sdba.com.
- After notification, the Foundation will issue the scholarship payment directly to the educational institution on behalf of the student(s).
- The scholarship request form is available here.
Award amount and distribution
- The available award is $4,000. This sum may be divided and granted to multiple students at the bank’s discretion.
- No matching funds from the bank are required.
Other requirements and priorities
- Recipients must sign a release permitting the Foundation to use their name and likeness for promotional purposes.
- If a bank wishes to award a scholarship to a bank employee or the employee’s child, that selection requires prior approval from the Foundation Board.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously received a Foundation scholarship.
- If the number of approved requests exceeds the funds available, awards will be prorated so that as many member banks as possible can be served.
