Introductory statement Custodio & Dubey LLP (CD Law) is committed to supporting the next generation of students. Recognizing that the cost of higher education can be a significant barrier—especially for those who are the first in their families to attend college—we established a $1,000 award to help first-generation students pursue their studies. We are excited to launch this scholarship nationwide and to acknowledge the dedication and perseverance of students working toward their degrees. About Attorney Custodio Partner and co‑founder Miguel A. Custodio Jr. is himself a first‑generation college graduate. After becoming the first in his family to earn a higher education, he continued his professional journey and became the sole partner at the Law Firm of Miguel A. Custodio Jr. His experience informs our commitment to first‑generation students and inspires this scholarship. Scholarship name and deadline First‑Gen Achievers Scholarship Award amount: $1,000 Application deadline: April 30, 2026 Eligibility - Must be a first‑generation student who will be enrolled in a two‑ or four‑year postsecondary institution for the Fall 2026 term. Eligible applicants include current high school seniors, students in vocational programs, undergraduates, and graduate students. - High school seniors who have not yet registered must include an acceptance letter. - Applicants must be legal U.S. residents and currently live in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia. - Employees of Custodio & Dubey LLP (CD Law), their family members, and anyone residing in the same household as an employee are not eligible. - Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Application requirements To be considered, applicants must submit the following by the April 30, 2026 deadline: 1. A completed application form (fill out the form provided below). 2. A 750‑word essay addressing the prompt below. All essays will be screened for AI‑generated content; any application found to include AI writing will be disqualified. Essay prompt: This scholarship honors students who are the first in their families to pursue college. For many, the journey is more difficult without parents or siblings who have navigated higher education, and for those facing financial constraints. Explain what attending college means to you and why it is important in your life. 3. A professional résumé detailing academic and work experience. 4. A transcript from your current school. - First‑year college students, graduate students, or recent transfer students may submit an unofficial transcript from their current institution along with the most recent official transcript from their previous school. 5. High school students must provide proof of acceptance to their college or university. Preference Preference will be given to applicants who are from, or attending secondary school in, the state.
