Scholarship Sponsored by Women in HVACR
Congratulations — you’ve chosen a rewarding career path! Opportunities for women in HVACR are expanding. With more than one-third of the U.S. workforce projected to retire within five years, industry forecasts indicate a need for approximately 86,000 new HVACR professionals over the next five years. Women in HVACR (WHVACR) aims to help meet that demand by supporting qualified, deserving candidates.
2026 Scholarship Awards
- WHVACR is increasing its scholarship funding for 2026: six (6) scholarships of $5,000 each.
Who is eligible
- Scholarship A — Technical college or trade school students
- Open to women currently enrolled in a technical college or trade school preparing to enter the HVACR industry.
- Minimum GPA: 3.0.
- Must submit a completed application and an essay (see essay requirements below; minimum 500 words).
- Scholarship B — Four‑year degree students
- Open to women enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at a four‑year college in an HVACR‑related field preparing to enter the industry.
- Minimum GPA: 3.0.
- Must submit a completed application and an essay (see essay requirements below; minimum 500 words).
Essay requirements (minimum 500 words; essay format)
Please address all of the following:
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in the HVACR field?
2. Describe your long‑term professional goals related to HVACR.
3. Explain how a career in HVACR will advance your professional objectives and career path.
4. Discuss the importance of your major/field of study in today’s society and looking forward.
5. What do you believe are the most pressing issues facing your field today?
Application materials — all items required
- Completed scholarship application (available on the WHVACR website)
- Essay as described above (minimum 500 words)
- Cover letter
- Headshot (photo)
- At least two reference letters
- Official or unofficial transcript verifying GPA
- Proof of current enrollment/attendance at your trade school, technical college, or university

Deadlines, notification, and award distribution
- Applications submitted by June 1 will be considered for the 2026 scholarships. Applications received after June 1 will be entered for consideration the following year.
- Recipients are selected and winners are typically announced between July and August. Scholarship funds are disbursed after the recipient provides proof of attendance for a semester.
