Hutchison & Foreman — Committing to Justice Scholarship
The Texas law firm Hutchison & Foreman is pleased to offer financial support to law students through the Hutchison & Foreman Committing to Justice Scholarship. Founded by attorneys Susan Hutchison and S. Rafe Foreman, the firm has a long record of investing time and resources in strengthening the legal profession and mentoring the next generation of trial lawyers. Rooted in a belief that justice requires action, the firm has built a practice from Fort Worth to Lubbock and across Texas and the United States on the principle that every client deserves vigorous advocacy. To encourage future advocates who share this commitment, Hutchison & Foreman will award $1,500 each semester to a qualifying law student.
Application deadline
All applications must be submitted by Wednesday, June 17, 2026, no later than 11:59 PM.
Who should apply
We welcome applications from law students who intend to represent plaintiffs in civil rights or employment discrimination matters. If you plan to pursue that path, we strongly encourage you to apply.
Eligibility requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Enrolled in an accredited law school.
- Interested in representing plaintiffs in civil rights or employment discrimination cases.
Required application materials
Please prepare and submit the following:
1. Proof of enrollment — for example, an acceptance letter, letter of admission, or current class schedule.
2. Consent to publish — if selected, your submission (video) will be shared on Hutchison & Foreman’s marketing channels to announce the winner, so you must agree to publication.
3. Video submission (URL) — a single video addressing the prompt below.
Video prompt and format
In a 3–5 minute video, answer: What inspired you to become involved in civil rights and employment discrimination advocacy?
Submit your video as a URL (YouTube, Vimeo, or similar) and ensure it meets the 3–5 minute length requirement.
How applications are reviewed
After the deadline, we will take approximately four weeks to review and rank submissions. Evaluation will consider:
- Evidence of a genuine commitment to justice demonstrated through past action and a compassionate approach.
- Completeness and accuracy of the application materials.
- Production quality and organization of the video.
- Whether the video fully answers the prompt and adheres to the 3–5 minute time frame.
Notification and announcement
If selected, you will be contacted directly by email. The winner will also be posted on this webpage and announced across Hutchison & Foreman’s social media channels.
