Introduction
Schaefer Halleen, LLC partners Lawrence P. Schaefer and Toni L. Halleen are long-time champions for people harmed by discrimination and unlawful workplace practices. With decades of collective experience in employment law, they are committed to vigorous representation and systemic fairness. To support emerging advocates for justice, the firm awards a single annual scholarship to a student dedicated to advancing equity and anti-discrimination efforts.

About the donors
Lawrence P. Schaefer
Throughout his distinguished career, Larry Schaefer has litigated against some of the nation’s largest corporations, helping tens of thousands of individuals recover losses caused by illegal corporate behavior. He is widely respected by judges and peers for his detailed, assertive advocacy in both negotiations and courtroom litigation, with his practice devoted exclusively to people who have experienced employment discrimination.

Toni L. Halleen
Toni Halleen spent years practicing employment law advising employers on preventing discrimination and meeting legal obligations to create better workplaces. She now serves as co-owner and Chief Operating Officer of Schaefer Halleen, overseeing firm operations so attorneys and staff can effectively represent victims of employment discrimination, retaliation, and related workplace matters.

Together
Larry and Toni have devoted their careers to empowering clients and pursuing remedies for illegal workplace conduct, including discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, and other protected characteristics. By offering this scholarship, they hope to encourage the next generation of advocates who will advance justice in their own ways.

Eligibility
- One scholarship is awarded each year. Applicants of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants must be accepted to an accredited college or law school in the United States.
- Applicants should be pursuing, or intending to pursue, a degree or accredited program that advances gender, religious, racial justice, or the broader pursuit of justice for all people.

Important dates
- Application deadline for the Fall semester: June 30, 2026.
- Scholarship recipient will be notified by July 31, 2026.
- Public announcement of awards will be made by August 31, 2026.

Award
- The scholarship amount is $1,000 and is granted annually to one recipient.
