Introduction
The Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer, Ltd. remains committed to supporting students who make a positive impact in their communities. Each year we award the R.F. Wittmeyer Community Service Scholarship to honor and assist students whose volunteer efforts improve the lives of others. This award is intended to help recipients continue their education and broaden their capacity to serve.
Award
One $1,000 scholarship will be granted to a qualifying high school senior, college student, or graduate student who has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service and who will be enrolled at a two- to four-year postsecondary institution in the upcoming semester.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be legal residents of the United States living in any of the 50 states or the District of Columbia. Eligible applicants include current high school seniors, vocational students, college students, and graduate students who are enrolled in a vocational program or a two- to four-year postsecondary institution.
- Employees of the Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer, Ltd., their immediate family members (parent, child, sibling, spouse), and anyone living in the same household as those employees (related or not) are ineligible.
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic standing.
Application requirements
- Complete the online application form in full.
- Submit an original 750–1,000-word essay responding to: What community service activities have you been involved in, and why are you dedicated to your community? Your essay must reference at least one organization you have partnered with in the past, are currently involved with, or plan to work with in the future.
- All essays will be screened for AI-generated content. Applications containing text judged to be produced by AI will be disqualified.
- Provide a professional résumé that outlines academic and professional experience.
- Supply a transcript from your current school. First-year college students, recent transfers, or graduate students may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school together with the most recent official transcript from their previous school. High school applicants may submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.
- Preference will be given to applicants who are from, or attending secondary school in, the state of Illinois.
Timeline and contact
- The deadline for this scholarship is June 30, 2026. The recipient of the 2026 R.F. Wittmeyer Community Service Scholarship will be selected 4 to 6 weeks after that deadline.
