Apple Hill Grower's Association Norma Brubaker Scholarship

Introduction
The Norma Brubaker Scholarship was created by the Apple Hill Grower's Association to honor Norma Brubaker, the Association’s first Secretary. Funding comes from the Apple Hill Growers, with the Brubaker family providing matching contributions. The award is intended to assist students who have been involved with agriculture-related activities during high school and/or who plan to pursue agriculture or closely related careers after graduation.
Eligibility
Applicants must attend one of the following high schools:
- El Dorado High School
- Golden Sierra High School
- Independence Continuation
- Mountain View High
- Mt. Tallac High
- Oak Ridge High School
- Other - Private
- Pacific Crest Academy
- Ponderosa High School
- South Tahoe High School
- Union Mine High School
Selection priorities
While open to applicants from the schools listed above, preference will be given to those who:
- Plan to enter agriculture or an allied field as a career or major.
- Have participated in 4H, FFA, Natural Resources Programs, or similar agriculture-focused activities during high school.
- Have work experience at Apple Hill Ranches.
- Are family members of Apple Hill Growers Association members.
All applicants should demonstrate good character and a strong commitment to continued education beyond grade 12—either through college or vocational/trade school. The following factors are not considered in the selection process: GPA, ethnicity, gender, financial need, or college choice.
Required materials (to upload)
- General Application — quantity: 1. Create and upload a PDF of the general application from the scholarship website.
- Letters of Recommendation — quantity: 2. Both letters must be signed by the recommender prior to upload. No more than one letter may be from a school faculty member.
- Unofficial Transcript — quantity: 1. Obtain a PDF copy of your transcript from the College & Career Center. Do not use Aeries to submit the transcript.
- Essay — quantity: 1. Topic: Describe your goals, accomplishments, and activities (including those outside school). If you have worked at an Apple Hill Ranch, describe what you learned from that experience and how it will benefit you in college and beyond. Word limit: 500 words maximum.

- Applicants should be prepared to attend an interview with the selection panel if requested.
- The selection panel’s decision is final. Award results will be disclosed only at the time the scholarship is announced.
