Overview The C.A.R. Scholarship Foundation grants awards annually during the C.A.R. Spring Business Meetings. Students enrolled in California colleges or universities who are studying for real estate–related careers may receive up to $2,000 (students at two‑year colleges) or up to $4,000 (students at four‑year institutions). See the eligibility criteria and required application materials below. Who is eligible This program supports students attending California institutions who are pursuing degrees that prepare them for careers directly involved in, or supporting, real estate transactions and related professions. Examples include (but are not limited to) Real Estate Brokerage, Finance, Management, Development, Appraisal, Planning, Real Estate Law, Commercial Real Estate — and other fields the Trustees judge appropriate. Minimum qualifications - Demonstrated, serious intention to pursue a career in real estate. - Currently enrolled in a California two‑year or four‑year college or university. - At the time you apply, enrolled in at least six (6) semester units (or equivalent), including at least one real estate or real estate‑related course. - Enrolled at a California college or university when the scholarship funds are disbursed. - Completed at least twelve (12) college‑level units within the past four years. - Completed a minimum of two real estate or real estate‑related courses. - Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from all colleges/universities attended. - Willing to participate in an interview with a Scholarship Foundation Trustee. - Agree to provide a video testimonial and a report to the Scholarship Foundation after you finish your program. Required application materials - California driver’s license or another state identification card showing you have been a legal California resident for at least one year prior to the application date. - A typed 300‑word essay outlining your career goals. - Official e‑transcripts from every college/university attended in the last four years. Only official e‑transcripts will be accepted. Ask your school to email official e‑transcripts directly to scholarship@car.org. These transcripts are used to confirm that you have completed the required 12 units and two real‑estate courses in the past four years and to verify your cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. - Two e‑letters of recommendation: one from a faculty member on official school letterhead and one from a REALTOR. Optional supplemental materials - Proof of current enrollment or a document showing current classes, if those courses do not appear on your official e‑transcript. (Official e‑transcripts are still required for a complete application.) - Unofficial e‑transcripts from colleges/universities attended more than four years ago, submitted as supplementary information for the Trustees’ review. Notes - Applications are considered complete only when all required documents, including official e‑transcripts, have been received. - Trustees reserve the right to evaluate other related fields of study they deem appropriate for consideration.
