Continue your education after high school — California State PTA offers scholarships to support that next step.
Overview
- The application window for the 2026 Graduating High School Senior Scholarships will reopen in the fall.
- Applicants will be notified of award decisions in March or early April.
Who is eligible
- Applicants must be PTA members and be graduating from a California high school between January 1 and June 30 of the current academic year.
Available awards
1. Volunteer Service Scholarship
- Recognizes graduating seniors for volunteer work in their schools and communities.
- Funds may be used to register for classes at accredited colleges, universities, or trade/technical schools.
2. Dr. Ralph E. White Graduating Senior Scholarship ($500)
- In honor of Dr. Ralph E. White and his wife, Eleanor, this award provides $500 each to two recipients.
- It is awarded to two successful Volunteer Service Scholarship applicants who plan to pursue a career in the medical field.
Notification and award
- Successful applicants will receive a congratulatory letter, a recognition certificate from California State PTA, and a check.
Application checklist — required items
- Proof of current PTA membership.
- A detailed essay that answers questions about your PTA involvement and service, volunteer work for other organizations or individuals, career goals, employment history, and any other information you want the selection committee to consider.
- Two references, each submitted on the required form and written specifically for this application:
- One reference from a community volunteer leader (not related to you and with whom you volunteered).
- One reference from a member of your high school faculty.
