Overview
The ACS Catalyst Scholarship supports undergraduate students for the 2026–2027 academic year who plan to use chemistry to tackle global challenges. This education program is intended for students majoring in chemistry or in closely related scientific fields.
Application period
Applications will be accepted from December 1, 2025, through March 1, 2026.
Information session recording
A recording of the Undergraduate Scholarship Information Session held on November 19, 2025 is available. It outlines eligibility rules, walks applicants through the application process step-by-step, offers tips for writing a compelling essay and strong recommendation letter, and explains how to obtain your Student Aid Report (SAR) — which is required for submission.
Evaluation criteria
Submissions will be judged using the following factors:
- Academic achievement and relevant laboratory or research experience
- Clear communication that chemistry improves lives and can address global problems
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing self-improvement and lifelong learning
- Ability to define goals and present realistic plans to reach them
