HBA Iowa Educational Corporation Scholarship

Purpose
This scholarship program provides financial assistance to students preparing for careers in homebuilding and related trades.
Eligibility
Applicants may include any student pursuing work in the home building industry or associated trades. Immediate family members of HBA of Iowa builder or associate members are also eligible. While the fund is primarily aimed at college-age individuals (generally 18–25 years old), eligibility is not strictly limited to that age range.
Award Amount and Use of Funds
Each selected recipient may receive up to $1,000. Several recipients may be chosen each year. Award payments will be made directly to the recipient’s educational institution and must be applied only to tuition and/or textbooks.
Selection Committee
The Scholarship Awards Committee will be composed of the Board of Directors of the HBA of Iowa Educational Corporation. The HBA of Iowa Executive Officer will participate as a non-voting member. The committee’s determinations are final.
Application and Timeline
The HBA IA EC Scholarship Committee accepts applications through March 31 each year. Scholarship presentations will occur by May 31 and may be made by the HBA IA President at a local HBA general membership meeting or at a school awards ceremony. Awards are issued as one-time payments; however, students may reapply and be awarded funds in subsequent years.
