Alexander Foundation Scholarships

The Alexander Foundation continues its long-standing commitment to helping members of the LGBTQIA+ community overcome obstacles to educational achievement through its scholarship program.
Eligibility
- Applicants must identify as LGBTQIA+.
- Must be residents of Colorado.
- Must be currently enrolled in school or planning to begin studies by Fall 2026.
- Must be enrolled in, or planning to attend, an accredited Colorado college, university, or trade/technical program. If you need an exception (for example: an online program, an out-of-state school, a summer program, or a trade school), explain the circumstances in your personal essay.
Award details
- Awards are determined by The Alexander Foundation’s Scholarship Committee, which evaluates candidates on academic merit, demonstrated financial need, and service to the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Individual awards range from $300 to $3,000.
- Applicants may submit applications in multiple years; total funding awarded to any one recipient is limited to $9,000.
- Your contact information will be kept within the Foundation and may be used to inform you about Foundation events and activities.
Required application materials
A complete submission must include:
- This completed application form.
- A personal essay (maximum 500 words).
- Two signed letters of recommendation, with at least one from a teacher or instructor. Academic recommendations should be provided on official school letterhead.
- A copy of a state or federal photo ID.
Personal essay guidance
Your essay should address:
- Who you are and what your academic/career goals are.
- How receiving this scholarship would assist you.
- Your current financial need.
- Ways you support, or plan to support, the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Any request for an exception to the Colorado school requirement, if applicable.
