Introduction
The Idaho Latino Scholarship Foundation (ILSF) was established in 2008 to help reduce the financial obstacles that Latino students in Idaho face when pursuing higher education. With support from community members, corporate partners, and volunteers, ILSF creates opportunities for qualified students to transform their futures.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Submit a complete application packet by March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM (midnight).
- Be in good standing and making satisfactory academic progress toward their program objective (degree, diploma, or certificate) as defined by their institution.
- Hold a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Be a high school student in Idaho and/or be enrolled in an undergraduate program (university, college, vocational/technical, or other) at an Idaho institution.
- Demonstrate leadership in school, community, or service organizations that promote or strengthen diversity.
- Be an Idaho resident of Hispanic/Latino descent.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- DACA recipients and students who are undocumented are eligible to apply.
- Award funds may only be used at Idaho schools.
Required Documents (upload as PDF)
Along with completing every question in the online ILSF Scholarship Application, applicants must attach the following documents in PDF format:
- Personal statement (biography).
- Resume (list of accomplishments).
- Scholarship essay responding to one of the essay prompts (see below).
- Official high school or college transcript.
- Two letters of recommendation submitted through Scholar’s App.
- Completed FAFSA showing the Student Aid Index (SAI) for the 2026–27 school year. If you are ineligible to file the FAFSA, you may submit results from the Federal Student Aid Estimator: https://studentaid.gov/aid-estimator/
Essay Guidelines
- Length: 3–5 pages, double-spaced, 12-point font.
- Please include the essay question you are answering at the top of your submission.
Choose one of the following prompts for your essay:
1. What can be done to encourage more Latino students to pursue college?
2. If selected for an ILSF scholarship, how would you help the Foundation advance its vision and mission?
3. If you could make a positive change at your school, what specific changes would you implement?
Submission Reminder
Ensure your application packet is complete and uploaded in PDF format by the March 31, 2026 midnight deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
