Shasta Chapter Annual Plant Biology Scholarship

Mission
Protect California’s indigenous plant species and their habitats now and for future generations by supporting science, education, stewardship, gardening, and advocacy.
Eligibility
To be considered for the Shasta Chapter CNPS scholarship, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a community college or attending high school located in Shasta, Siskiyou, Modoc, or Lassen counties, or in the greater Weaverville/Hayfork portion of Trinity County.
- Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (equivalent to a B average).
- Have been accepted to a four-year college or university for the 2026–2027 academic year and plan to pursue a career in Plant Biology.
Preferred fields of study
Applicants should plan to major in areas related to native-plant work and the California Native Plant Society’s mission. Relevant majors include, but are not limited to:
- Botany
- Plant Ecology
- Plant Conservation
- Habitat Management and Restoration
Award disbursement
The scholarship will be issued in two equal payments:
1. The first half will be released after the recipient provides a copy of their registration card or a tuition/registration receipt from the four-year institution.
2. The second half will be released after the recipient submits (a) their first-term grades demonstrating an average of B− or better (at least a 2.7 GPA) and (b) a copy of their registration receipt for the second term.
