Italian American Executives of Transportation Scholarship

The Italian American Executives of Transportation Organization (IAET) offers yearly college scholarships to young men and women who are of Italian American ancestry, either wholly or in part.
Eligibility
- Must be an Illinois resident.
- Must be a 2026 high school graduate.
- Must be of Italian American heritage (in whole or in part).
What the Scholarship Committee will consider
- A written essay on the role and significance of Italian Americans in the community. Applicants should reflect on their current and/or future contributions as Italian Americans and be as specific as possible.
- Academic record (submit high school transcript).
- Extracurricular involvement (sports, clubs, leadership roles).
- Community service (describe volunteer activities and indicate frequency/time commitments).
- Demonstrated financial need (include other scholarships or awards received).
- At least one letter of recommendation from a former teacher.
- A recent head-and-shoulders photograph in .jpg or .png format (maximum file size 2 MB).
- Additional consideration may be given to applicants with special needs—defined as those requiring extra consideration because of a learning or physical disability or other unusual circumstances.
Important award conditions
1. Recipients must attend the IAET Dinner Dance on November 14, 2026.
2. During the U.S. National Anthem, recipients are expected to stand and place their hand over their heart, in accordance with established protocol.
3. Recipients must wear appropriate semi-formal attire (jeans and casual clothing are not permitted).
Note: Failure to meet these attendance or conduct requirements will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
Timeline
- Applicants selected for awards will be notified in October 2026.
- Scholarships will be formally presented at the IAET Dinner Dance on November 14, 2026.
