Application Materials
Personal Information
We will collect basic contact and background details such as your full name, mailing address, current high school, preferences, and demographic information. This demographic/personal data will not be used in the selection decision; it is collected to reach finalists and to help BBPLF improve its programs and outreach.
Academic Documentation
You may be asked to submit proof of academic performance, which typically includes your most recent high school transcript, official SAT/ACT score report, and a summary of extracurricular involvement. Materials in this section will be reviewed as part of the evaluation process, and finalists must verify all submitted information.
Proof of Financial Need
Financial eligibility is established using the Student Aid Index (SAI) from your FAFSA. Applicants should download their SAI and upload it with their application; instructions for obtaining the SAI are provided in the application resources. Financial documentation will be used to assess need, and finalists will be required to confirm these details.
Statements
Two written statements are required and will be evaluated:
1) Brief Advocacy Statement — up to 50 words. A concise case for why you should receive this scholarship (feel free to highlight your strengths).
2) Creative Statement — up to 250 words. Respond to one of the three optional prompts provided in the application.
Note: All items marked with an asterisk have further explanations on the Application Materials Descriptions page. Finalists will be contacted for any necessary confirmations or additional documentation.
