Hermine Solt Student Scholarship

Overview
The Pennsylvania Association of Educational Office Professionals (PAEOP) invites qualified 12th‑grade students to apply for the 2026 Hermine Solt Student Scholarship. Established in 1992, this scholarship provides a $500 award to assist Pennsylvania students pursuing post‑secondary study in a business‑related discipline. The number of scholarships awarded is determined each year; recipients are chosen based on how well they meet the stated criteria.
Eligibility
- Must be a senior graduating from a Pennsylvania public high school or a Pennsylvania charter school.
- Intending to enroll in an accredited two‑ or four‑year post‑secondary institution, college, or university with a business‑related major.
Award use
- The $500 award will be issued by PAEOP directly to the chosen post‑secondary institution in the recipient’s name and may be applied toward tuition or bookstore charges.
Recommended fields of study (examples)
- Accounting; Business Administration; Business Communication; Management; International Business; Entrepreneurship; Finance; Marketing; Computer/Information Technology; Secretarial/Administrative Assistant studies.
Selection criteria
Applications will be evaluated on the following factors:
1. Leadership, citizenship, and service to school and community, along with a strong attendance record
2. Work experience and/or community or volunteer involvement
3. Demonstrated financial need
4. Academic achievement (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0)
5. Participation in school activities (clubs, athletics, music/arts)
Required application materials
Submit all of the following in a single PDF file:
- Completed application (type all fields legibly and accurately)
- Official high school transcript
- One letter of recommendation from a business teacher or from a school counselor who can speak to the applicant’s citizenship, academic record, and/or school or community activities
- A list of extracurricular activities, honors, and community service
- A personal statement of approximately 250 words responding to: “Describe an accomplishment, event, or realization that prompted personal growth or a new understanding of yourself or others.”
- A copy of an acceptance letter (or official notice) indicating the selected business major
