Note: Awards and prize amounts change each year and are granted based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need.
Important: Only students planning careers in health care should apply.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be African American.
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior.
- Open to students residing anywhere in the United States.
- Applicant must be planning to attend a two- or four-year college/university or an accredited technical school.
- Scholarship funds must be used for education-related expenses such as tuition, textbooks, fees, or other financial need while enrolled.
How to Apply
- All application materials must be uploaded through the Foundation’s online application portal. Materials sent by mail or email will not be reviewed.
- Combine everything into a single PDF file and name it exactly: First Name Last Name - Mae and Mary Scholarship.pdf. Do not submit ZIP files.
- Include the following items in that single PDF:
- A recent photo
- Cover letter and resume (creative formats welcome)
- One personal essay of your choice (maximum one page)
- Two letters of recommendation
- Current transcripts (official or unofficial are acceptable)
- Copy of college acceptance letter, if available
Deadline and Notification
- Application deadline: March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST. Applications received after this date/time will not be accepted.
- Winners will be notified publicly on May 10, 2026.
