AGC South Dakota Scholarships

Scholarship Sponsored by Associated General Contractors of South Dakota

Introduction
The AGC of South Dakota is dedicated to developing a highly skilled, educated construction workforce. In 2025 we awarded more than $75,000 to students pursuing construction-related education, and we intend to continue that support in 2026. Applicants should be in good academic standing and plan to work in South Dakota after graduation.

Eligibility and Purpose
This scholarship program is intended for graduating high school students and students currently enrolled in construction-related programs at technical colleges, colleges, or universities. Awards are available to those entering careers directly tied to the construction industry. If a question on the application does not apply, enter N/A.

Application Windows
- AGC-sponsored Build Dakota Scholarships at South Dakota technical colleges: January 1 – March 31, 2026.
- All other AGC of SD scholarships: December 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026.

Sponsorship Requirement
All applicants must have an AGC of South Dakota member sponsor. If you need help finding a sponsoring AGC member, contact the AGC of SD office (see contact info below). Note: to be eligible for the Sioux Falls Contractors Association (SFCA) scholarship, your sponsor must be an SFCA member.

Scholarship Pools (selected awards and amounts determined by the AGC Scholarship Committee)
- Build Dakota Partner Scholarship: Covers the remaining 50% of a Build Dakota Scholarship for AGC of SD–sponsored recipients enrolled at a technical institute.
- Sioux Falls Contractors Association Scholarship — $10,000: For students enrolled at a college/university or technical college.
- John Shoemaker Memorial Scholarship — $5,000: For high school graduates enrolled at a college/university or technical college.
- SD LICA Scholarship — $3,000: For students enrolled at a college/university or technical college.
- BX Excellence Women in Construction Scholarship — $2,500: For female students enrolled at a college/university or technical college.
- JR Loiseau Memorial Scholarship — $2,500: For students enrolled at a technical college.
- AGC Associate Division Scholarship — $2,000: For students enrolled at a college/university.
- Floyd Knight Memorial Scholarship — $1,000: For students enrolled at a technical institute.
- Plus additional awards.

Application Instructions and Requirements
1. Complete every section of the application. Use N/A where a question does not apply.
2. Applicants must have an AGC of SD member sponsor (required).
3. To be considered for the SFCA scholarship, you must be sponsored by an SFCA member.
4. You may submit up to three letters of recommendation; these are optional but recommended.
5. Current high school applicants must attach an unofficial high school transcript.
6. Current technical college or university applicants must attach an unofficial college/university transcript.
7. Applicants should demonstrate good academic standing and commitment to working in South Dakota after graduation.

Selection
A Scholarship Committee appointed by AGC of SD reviews applications and determines recipients and award amounts.
