Application Overview

Eligibility requirements below apply to applicants for the 2026–2027 award year. Read all sections carefully to confirm you meet the criteria before beginning an application.

General Eligibility

- Heritage: Applicants must have Korean ancestry—this includes having a Korean parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent, or being adopted from Korea.
- Enrollment: You must be enrolled full-time at an institution located in one of the Northeastern states listed below for the entire 2026–2027 academic year. Eligible states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
- Academic Standing: A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is required.
- Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

KWVD Scholarship Specific Requirement

- Military Connection: To qualify for the KWVD scholarship, you must be a direct descendant of a Korean War veteran who served in Korea during the Korean War Era, June 25, 1950 – January 31, 1955 (as designated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs).

- High school seniors who plan to begin college in 2026–2027
- College freshmen, sophomores, and juniors
- College seniors
- Graduate students

Additional Instructions

- International and self-supporting applicants must complete the Personal Financial Statement form (downloadable from the application pages) and upload the filled form to the Financial Documentation section.
- Individuals who are not current students may still apply if they provide proof of intent to enroll full-time in 2026–2027 (examples: acceptance letters, signed commitment letters, or similar documentation).
- Applicants who live in, or expect to live in, the United States during the 2026–2027 school year are eligible regardless of U.S. citizenship status (U.S. citizens and non-citizens are welcome).
