Ball State Alumni Association Legacy Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Ball State University
For more than a century, Ball State University graduates have been influential pioneers who make lasting contributions worldwide. Each year the university recognizes outstanding alumni — those who have given notable service and support to Ball State, achieved excellence in their careers, or performed distinguished service to their communities — with a series of awards.
Nominations
- Nominations are accepted year-round and remain active for three years. To be considered for the awards in the current cycle, nominations must be submitted by February 28.
Selection Committee
- Recipients are chosen by the Alumni Awards Committee of the Ball State University Alumni Council.
Tips for a Competitive Nomination
- Your nomination will likely be the primary source of information the committee uses. Complete answers matter — every question on the form contributes to the committee’s evaluation.
- Aim for clarity and completeness rather than length. Strong entries typically give focused, substantive responses. An effective answer for each section is usually 2–3 concise paragraphs; use bullet points when listing multiple achievements to improve readability.
- Make a persuasive case. Include a passionate statement of support explaining why this nominee is exceptional and why they deserve the honor.
- Include supporting material when available: resumes, news articles, web links, letters of endorsement, etc. You may attach up to 9 pages of supplemental documents. These attachments help present a fuller picture of the nominee, but avoid sending repetitive or unnecessary materials — if more than 9 pages are submitted, only the first 9 will be reviewed.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a nomination. Your effort helps Ball State celebrate and honor the achievements of its most distinguished alumni.
